Freegal Music gives you access to over 9 million songs from over 28,000 labels including the Sony Music catalog of your country.
How Freegal Music Works:
- Library users have a weekly download and monthly streaming limit. You will be able to keep track of your downloads in the upper right corner of the site. The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format. This service will work on almost any computer, player, tablet or smartphone. The Freegal Music mobile app is free in the Apple® App Store and in Google® Play
What you’ll need:
- a computer, tablet or smartphone running iOS or Android operating system
From your computer, go to https://www.communitylibrary.org and select eBooks & Digital Collection
Select Freegal from your browser.
Welcome to the main page of Freegal. The main screen should open to a listing of the current top albums followed by songs, artists and so forth. Along the top you will find a search bar and several categories in which you can search for music. Along the left side is where you will keep track of what you have streamed, downloaded, added to your playlist or wishlist.
There are several ways to browse Freegal. You can scroll up and down, left to right on the main screen to view various artists. You can also click on the Genre tab located at the top right. This will reveal Freegal’s genres.
Streaming vs. Downloading
Freegal allows you to download 5 free songs per week. To listen to music without using your limited downloads, you have the option of streaming! To stream, hover over the album cover and click on Stream Now.
Once you’ve selected Stream, the album will start playing. Use the music player controls to fast-forward, rewind or pause streaming.
Adding to Wishlist/ Playlist
Freegal also has pre-made playlists for your convenience. These can be found along the left side beneath Streaming, under “Freegal Playlists“.
